Spring 2025
High school Seniors in a public, private, charter, or parochial school with a graduation date of May – August of the current Optimist International contest year.
Interested students should complete the “Application for Bonita Optimist Club Foundation Scholastic Award“ and provide the following: three character reference letters (must include at least 2 letters from educators), a biographical one-page essay, proof of community service, and an official transcript of courses completed.
Scholastic awards maybe granted in a monetary amount of up to $1,500.
Spring 2024
Junior Optimist Club hosts an annual “Dance for a Cure” fundraiser. In an effort to raise money for Johns Hopkins childhood cancer research.
Summer 2025
The Bonita Optimist Club Respect for Law and Bicycle Rodeo event’s purpose is to focus the general populace’s attention on safety for both children and parents. The Bike Rodeo will teach young children safe cycling practices. It will also have bicycle and helmet inspections to assure both are in good condition. The Bonita Optimist Club has teamed up with Bikes 4 Kidz, and will be providing bikes free of charge!

Topic: “Optimism: How It Connects Us”
The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country, or a more historical perspective. In additional to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship!
